A unit known as "Joint Operation and Covert Research" (JOCR) is established by Pathaan, a former RAW agent, and Nandini, his senior officer. Luthra reveals at the headquarters that Jim was a former RAW agent who was thought to have died many years ago. However, Jim actually faked his death in order to exact revenge on his country for allowing his wife and unborn child to be killed by Somalian terrorists. Pathaan learns about the "Raktbeej" codeword, as well as the fact that the dead people in Dubai were former secret agents and soldiers and that their money was given to Rubina Mohsin, a doctor from Pakistan who lives in Spain. He makes his way to Spain, where he is taken in by Jim's men and finds out that Rubina was once an ISI agent. It comes to light that Jim actually made use of Rubina in order to convince Pathaan to steal Raktbeej for himself by exploiting his emotional nature as a weakness. Pathaan is transported by train to a prison, where he is left to die there by the other inmates. He fights the prisoners to the point where he is about to be killed by them, but Nandini, through Morse code, tells Avinash "Tiger" Singh Rathore to come and save him. In a gunfight, Pathaan and Tiger prevent the prisoners, police, and convoy from escaping.
